The Self Soothe Box

Established in 2022

The Self Soothe Box was founded in 2020 out of a desire to help others on their journey to better mental health. Based on the principles of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, each of our boxes has been carefully curated to equip you with a variety of tools and resources designed to promote mental health and wellness, with a focus on distress tolerance, emotional regulation, mindfulness, and grounding. We offer a range of custom made boxes to target specific concerns, as well as a Build Your Own Box option for those who want to tailor their order to their specific needs. Our boxes are a great resource for anyone who is wanting to work on their mental health and wellness, to send as a care package to a loved one, or as a corporate resource for wellness initiatives or client support.

About the Owner

Hi there, my name is Mandy. I am the founder of The Self Soothe Box, and I have Borderline Personality Disorder. Through the process of diagnosis and therapy in 2019, I was introduced to the concept of self soothing; finding ways to calm, distract, and keep negative emotions in check when you feel out of control can assist with de-escalating crisis situations. It was suggested that we create our own Self Soothe Box full of items to help us cope during difficult moments, filled with various tools and resources to distract the mind and soothe the senses. Whilst I found the techniques incredibly useful, the process of gathering the items was quite overwhelming. I had no idea what would work best for me, where to find the various items I wanted to try, or even where to start! I created The Self Soothe Box to help others through their mental health journey, with a goal to make these tools and resources easily accessible to anyone who needs them.
